Shipping Costs: Sweet Elise offers discounted shipping through FedEx. We do not make a profit on our shipping. Our shopping cart links directly to FedEx and the rates you are charged reflect our volume discount of 45-60%. Keep in mind, packages containing dishware are heavy, ranging from 10-30 pounds. Packages containing fresh flowers must be shipped overnight.
Sorry, but we cannot ship to P.O. Boxes or Military bases.
EXTRA FEES- Please note your delivery may be subject to additional fees that may not show up on your invoice. Why aren't these fees automatically added to your invoice? We don't charge you for them, unless FedEx charges us for them.
"Signature required upon delivery": FedEx charges an extra fee for packages that require a signature. This fee ($3.25) will be charged to your credit card even though it may not show up on your receipt/invoice.
Residential delivery: $2.75 Why does FedEx charge an extra fee to deliver your package to a residence, rather than a business? We wondered the same, so we checked and there are multiple reasons. First, the major delivery carriers base their rates on percentages; most of their deliveries are being made to businesses. Businesses are generally centrally located and make for quick and easy drop offs. Not only does this mean less time, it means less fuel, manpower, etc. A residential delivery takes the driver off the regular beaten path, to an area he/she may not be familiar with. This takes extra time, fuel and therefore additional drivers.
Rural Route Fee: $2.75 For some remote locations, this fee is charged by FedEx in addition to a residential fee, for the same reasons above, only compounded.
Morning delivery: Unless otherwise noted, our packages are delivered standard overnight, which means anytime before 5:00 p.m. If you request a morning delivery (anytime up until noon) there is an additional fee (varies by shipment and location).
Address correction: $12.50. You must supply us with a correct and complete address. This includes Suite, Floor, Apartment number, business name, correct zip code and whether the street address is formally called "Lane, "Drive", "Blvd.", "Way", etc. If an address correction is needed, we will be forced to charge you the $12.50 "Address Correction Fee" imposed on us by the carriers. In addition, your order is likely to be late. In this instance we cannot guarantee the contents will be fresh.
Once you place your order online, you will be emailed a copy of your invoice. Be sure to add sweetelise.com to your email program's list of acceptable addresses so that your invoice won't end up in your junk mail folder or rejected all together. We will ship according to the information you provided us during checkout, so it is vital you receive AND proof your invoice thoroughly to make certain everything is correct. Contact us immediately if you find an error. As long as FedEx has not picked up your order, we can make the correction at no additional cost.
Saturday delivery: $15.00. Friday (for a Saturday delivery) is not a normal shipping day for us. However, if you need a Saturday delivery, call us. We will always do our best to accommodate you. FedEx charges an additional $15.00 for a Saturday delivery. In addition, we charge an extra $2.50 to help cover our expenses in having an employee here to ship your package on a day we would normally be closed for shipping.
Please note: While the above "extra" fees from FedEx may seem extreme, EVERY major carrier charges them. We find FedEx's fees to be comparable, if not lower. And we find their service to be superior.
Reminder-We only charge you additional fees if FedEx charges us for them.
LIABILITY It is your responsibility to take into consideration the traveling/shipping distance of your package and choose the best shipping option for the contents. For example, it's not wise to choose EXPRESS SAVER (3-Day Shipping) when shipping chocolates/truffles to warm climates (70 degrees or higher) at any time of the year! We recommend at most, chocolates/truffles be shipped 2-day Express during winter months, and definitely Over night during Spring/Summer months. CAKES WITH FRESH FLOWERS MUST ALWAYS BE SHIPPED OVERNIGHT. If you choose an option that we determine may jeopardize the quality of the contents, we will have to charge you additional and ship your package Priority Overnight. SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS.
We're sure you understand that once your package leaves our hands and is accepted by the carrier, we are no longer held liable for damages caused by delivery delays due to weather, acts of god, etc. We will always take responsibility when we make a mistake, but we cannot control severe weather conditions anywhere along the route your package may travel. Nor are we responsible for mistakes made by the carrier. With that said, we will assist you in any way possible to help you satisfy a reasonable claim with a carrier. If a mistake was made by the carrier, they will reimburse you according to their policies, which we have always found to be reasonable and fair.
